MSPT Indiana Poker Championship Opens
MPST Season 9 kicked off in January in Evansville, Tropicana, south Indiana, with a $350 local event, and now we’re back. This time it’s for the $1,100, $250,000 2018 MPST Indiana State Poker Championship, which starts Friday.
The 2018 MSPT Indiana State Poker Championship plans a 16-level match on Friday, August 17 at 2 p.m. and starts with Day 1A. Day 1B will be held on Saturday, August 18 at the same time. Players advancing from the main event Flight 1A to Day 2 will not lose their chips and will not be able to play on Flight 1B. The rest of each Flight will combine at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 19 and play until they become champions.
The last table will be live delayed by 15 minutes online using RFID technology to allow all viewers to view the hole card. In addition, the entire main event will be live on the MSPT live blog.
This is the fifth time the main event has been held in Evansville, Tropicana, although it is the first time at a new ground facility. In August 2017, the 2017 MSPT Indiana State Poker Championship attracted 320 entries, with Satish Thakur winning the title and $71,047 in prize money.
In 2016, Earl Porter beat the 340-entry field and won the 2016 MSPT Indiana State Poker Championship with $82,450. Other winners of the MSPT Tropicana Evansville include Michael O’Neill $67,746 and Charlie Dawson $60,527 in August 2014.
Tropicana Evansville is a multimillion-dollar complex of entertainment located on the scenic bank of the Ohio River in southwest Indiana. Opened on Oct. 20, 2017, the 24-hour, single-level casino features 45,000 square feet of gaming space, with 1,175 slot games, 33 table games, a dedicated poker room, and an restricted room.
