Curry, an outspoken Democrat: “If Harris runs, we win”
National Basketball Association (NBA) stars have arrived at the Main Press Center (MPC), the home of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games press corps. Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) thrilled journalists from around the world.
On the afternoon of the 25th, the Palais des Congrès in Paris, where the MPC is located, hosted a press conference for the U.S. Men’s National Basketball Team.
The U.S. squad is an ultra-luxury one, with LeBron James (LA Lakers) as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and Curry as the all-time leading three-point shooter. The combined salary of the 12 players is worth a whopping 561.7 billion won. Among them, Curry and Durant were among the press conference attendees.
The usually calm MPC was noisy 30 minutes before the press conference. Video and photography reporters camped out to get a good seat, and reporters gathered one by one. As time went on, all 300 seats in the room were filled, and there were quite a few standing reporters.
Curry and Durant showed up about 15 minutes later than scheduled. As they walked into the venue, a number of flashes went off. Curry smiled, seemingly intrigued by the scene.
The media interest in the stars was intense, with reporters from CNN, USA Today, ESPN, and other American outlets actively raising their hands to ask questions.
Curry responded with a relaxed expression as if he was used to this situation.
Curry, a two-time regular season MVP and one-time Finals MVP, has never competed in the Olympics.
He missed the Rio 2016 Games with an injury and the 안전놀이터 Tokyo 2020 Games to prepare for the regular season. She was nervous about her first Olympics, but it didn’t faze her.
“I’ve envisioned myself playing in the Olympics for a long time,” Curry said. I’m really looking forward to it,” he said. ”It’s great to be around athletes from other sports. It’s a great experience to be around athletes from other sports, and I’m looking forward to enjoying everything.”
Durant is no stranger to the Olympics. He won three consecutive gold medals at London 2012, followed by Rio and Tokyo. Still, he’s not relaxed, but serious.
“I’m really excited to be in Paris, one of my favorite cities. I’m looking forward to competing against the best players in the world,” he said.
The most interesting moment of the 30-minute Q&A was when Curry announced his support for US Vice President Kamala Harris. Curry is an outspoken Democrat, having previously worked on President Joe Biden’s campaign.
When asked by a reporter about politics, Curry didn’t dodge the question. “This is a very exciting time in our country,” he said.
“I think the Democrats are going to win if Harris, with Biden’s endorsement, is the nominee,” he said, adding, ”I think he’s going to do a good job of unifying the country at a time when it’s divided.”
