SSG Landers defeated the Kiwoom Heroes thanks to Ha Jae-hoon’s game-winning home run.

SSG defeated Kiwoom 5-4 on Sunday at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea, in an away game of the Shinhan Solbank KBO League 2024.

The victory was SSG’s 24th win of the season (1 win, 20 losses).

With the loss, seventh-ranked Kiwoom (18-25) saw its three-game winning streak come to an end and fell to a 12-game home losing streak.

SSG Ha Jae-hoon went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, including the game-winning solo shot in the eighth inning. Lee Ji-young added a multi-hit (two or more hits in a game), one-RBI performance.

SSG Drew Anderson, making his second start of the season, threw 58 pitches for three innings of four-hit ball, striking out four and walking none.

Kiwoom was led offensively by Song Sung-moon (3-for-5, 2 RBI), Kim Hye-sung (2-for-4, 1 RBI), and Choi Joo-hwan (2-for-4), but ultimately suffered the loss.

On the mound for Kiwoom, Enmanuel De Jesus allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks with six strikeouts in 4⅔ innings.

Kiwoom got on the board first.

In the bottom of the first inning, Kim Hye-sung led off with a single to left and Lee Joo-hyung followed with a single to right-center.

SSG tied the game in the top of the third inning.

Choi Ji-hoon and Choi Jung-jeong singled and Park Sung-sung laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and third, and Guillermo Heredia followed with a sacrifice fly.

Kiwoom regained the lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kim Hui-jip and Lim Ji-yeol walked to put runners on first and second with one out, and Kim Jae-hyun hit a single through the side of the shortstop. Song Sung-moon then blasted a triple to right-center field to bring both 토토 runners home.

Trailing 1-4, SSG rallied in the top of the fifth inning.

A walk to Park Sung-sung, a hit by pitch to Choi Jung, and a single to Han Yoo-seom put runners on second and third, and Lee Ji-young followed with a single to left. With runners on first and third, Ha Jae-hoon hit a two-out RBI double to tie the game.

Kiwoom missed a golden opportunity.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kim Hye-sung walked and Choi Joo-hwan singled to right to put runners on first and third, but Kim Hwi-jip struck out swinging and Kim Tae-jin grounded out to the pitcher.

With the score tied at 4-4, SSG Ha Jae-hoon came to the rescue.

In the top of the eighth inning, Ha led off with a walk and lifted a 139-kilometer-per-hour fastball from left-handed reliever Kim Jae-woong over the left field fence for a one-run home run.

SSG closer Moon Seung-won, who came on in the bottom of the eighth and got Kim Jae-hyun to ground out to second base, continued his cruise in the top of the ninth.

After giving up a leadoff single to Song Sung-moon, Moon retired Ronnie Dawson on a fly ball to left field and got Kim Hye-sung and Lee Joo-hyung to ground out to shortstop for his 13th save of the season.
