NBA’s Golden State snaps six-game losing streak
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Golden State Warriors snapped a six-game losing streak behind five 3-pointers from Steph Curry.
Golden State defeated the Houston Rockets 121-116 in the 2023-2024 regular season at the Chase Center in California, U.S., on Monday (Feb. 21), led by Curry’s 32 points, including five 3-pointers.
Golden State improved to 7-8 as it tasted victory for the first time in a long time after a six-game losing streak.
Klay Thompson also broke out of his recent slump with 20 points, including five 3-pointers.
Curry, who struggled early in the game, came alive with a “four-point play” with six seconds left in the second quarter, hitting a 3-pointer followed by an additional free throw.
He also hit a 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter to make it 100-87 and put an end to Houston’s hopes of catching up.
Yannis Adetokunbo, the “Greek Freak,” dominated the rim to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to their fifth straight win.
Milwaukee defeated the Washington Wizards 142-129 at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
Adetokunle scored 42 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out eight assists in a dominating performance.
Most notably, Adetokunbo shot 23 free throws, making 20 of them for an 87% clip. The downside was that he only made 2 of 6 from the free throw line.
It was a close game until the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Up 109-108 on Adetokunbo’s layup with 9:45 left, Milwaukee got a 3-pointer from Cameron Payne and a pair of free throws from Adetokunbo to pull away.
The Charlotte Hornets caught the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics in overtime.
Charlotte rallied from an 18-point deficit to send the game to overtime and then beat Boston 121-118 on a 3-pointer by Miles Bridges (14 points) with 6.6 seconds left in regulation at the Spectrum Center in North Carolina.
LaMelo Bell added 36 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and Gordon Hayward scored 20 points to help secure the thrilling victory.
