International University Volleyball Competition Invited to 8 Countries, Held Next Month in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do

University volleyball will improve its international competitiveness by confronting strong teams around the world.

The Korea University Volleyball Federation announced on the 25th that it will hold the 2023 Patty Burn Cup Mungyeong Eight Nations Invitation International University Volleyball Competition at Sun Seung-kwan, the Armed Forces Sports Unit in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, for six days from August 26 to 31.

This competition was newly created to improve the performance of promising volleyball players from men’s universities and professional teams from a total of eight countries and to exchange internationally.

It is hosted by the Korea University Volleyball Federation and the Korea Volleyball Association and sponsored by Mungyeong City and BUNPATTYBUN, a brand specializing in handmade burgers.

The eight countries participating this year are South Korea, the United States, Britain, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam. 스포츠토토

In terms of the game method, eight countries will be divided into two groups of four teams to play a full league, and the top two teams will advance to the semifinals to determine the championship with the tournament.

In the group preliminary round, Group A was composed of South Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, and Group B was composed of the United States, Britain, Australia, and Vietnam. The opening match of the tournament is a match between Korea and Japan.

In Korea, Kyung Hee University coach Kim Chan-ho will take the helm, while Hongik University coach Kwak Seung-chul and Kyung Hee University trainer Jeon Sung-kyu will form a coaching staff.

A total of 14 players were selected for the national team, including five professional rookie players and nine college prospects.

Lee Joon (Korean Air, 187cm), Park Seung-soo (OK Savings Bank, 193cm), Shin Sung-ho (Myongji, 190cm), Lee Yoon-soo (Gyeonggi University, 199cm), and Park Ye-chan (Gyeonghee University, 200cm) were selected as the outside heaters.

Jung Tae-joon (Hyundai Capital, 199cm), Jinyoung Kim (Chungnam University, 195cm), Yang Soo-hyun (Gyeonggi University, 201cm), Cho Jin-seok (Gyeonghee University, 216cm), Shin Seung-hoon (KB Insurance, 195cm) and Choi Won-bin (Gyeonggi University, 185cm) were selected as the setters.

There are three Liberos: Jang Ji-won (Korea Electric Power Corporation, 180cm), Sung Han-hee (Gyeonghee University, 175cm), and Shin Yun-ho (Hongik University, 180cm).
