Al Hilal defeated Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia) and advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL), breaking the world record for the most consecutive wins in an official match.
Al Hilal, the runner-up team in the 2022 tournament, won 2-0 in the second leg of the 2023-2024 ACL quarterfinals against Al-Ittihad held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the 13th (Korean time).
Al Hilal, who also won the first game 2-0, secured a ticket to the semifinals by winning the first and second games a total of 4-0.
Accordingly, Al Hilal will meet Al Ain (United Arab Emirates), played by former Korean national team defensive midfielder Park Yong-woo, in the semifinals and compete to advance to the long-awaited finals.
Al Hilal is a Middle Eastern powerhouse that has won the ACL stage four times (1991, 2000, 2019, 2021) and runners-up five times (1986, 1987, 2014, 2017, 2022).In the final of the previous tournament, they lost to Urawa Reds (Japan) and finished as runners-up.

In particular, Al Hilal held the record for the ‘longest winning streak of all time’ by defeating Al Ittihad on this day.
Since drawing 1-1 with Damak in the Saudi League on September 21 last year, Al Hilal has had a 28-game winning streak in official games, surpassing the previous record of 27 consecutive wins set by The New Saints of the Welsh Premier League in the 2016-2017 season.
Al Hilal recorded 16 consecutive wins in the regular league, 3 consecutive wins in the 2023-2024 King Cup, and 9 consecutive wins in the 2023-2024 ACL, setting a new record of 28 consecutive wins.
Al Hilal, whose ‘superstar’ Neymar was out of the lineup due to anterior cruciate ligament surgery in October last year, has striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who played for Fulham (England) and the Serbian national team, and midfielder Huben, who worked with Hwang Hee-chan in Wolverhampton (England). Neves faced Al-Ittihad with former Brazilian national team striker Maucon Silva at the forefront.
‘Saudi League rival’ Al-Ittihad suffered a severe power leak as ‘goal scorer’ Karim Benzema was absent due to injury in the second game of the day following the first game, and ‘veteran midfielder’ N’Golo Kante, who was sent off in the first game, was also absent.
Al Hilal, who finished the first half scoreless, took the lead in the 16th minute of the second half when Yasser Al Shahhani scored the first goal with a right-footed shot from the left side of the goal area.
Al Ittihad fell apart in extra time in the second half when striker Abderrazak Hamdallah was sent off for a struggle with Al Hilal defender Ali Albulaich, who had roughly contested an aerial ball towards him.
Al Hilal, who had a numerical advantage, confirmed their advancement to the semifinals with Maicon Silva scoring a key goal at the end of extra time in the second half. 한국야동
