K League 2 Gyeongnam defeats Ansan 4-2… ‘blue light’ for semi-po qualification

Professional soccer’s K League 2 Gyeongnam FC defeated the ‘last place’ Ansan Greeners and moved closer to ‘defending the fifth place’, the minimum threshold to qualify for the semi-playoffs (PO).

Gyeongnam won 4-2 in the 37th round home match of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 against Ansan at the Changwon Football Center on the 28th.

With the win, fifth-ranked Gyeongnam (53 points) increased its point difference to five with seventh-ranked Chungbuk Cheongju (48 points), which has played one less game, to solidify its fifth place.

The fifth-place team in K League 2 will play the fourth-place team in the semi-finals before facing the third-place team, and the winner will play the 10th-place team in K League 1 in the relegation PO.

Gyeongnam took the lead in the 15th minute after a corner kick situation, when Park Min-seo’s shot from the front of the goal area hit the keeper, and Gleason quickly slid the spilled ball into the net with his left foot.

Ansan fought back, and Yoon Joo-tae equalized in the 36th minute to make it 1-1 at halftime.

Gyeongnam conceded a penalty kick to Ansan’s Yoon Joo-tae in the 12th minute of the second half, but Cho Tae-ki scored a header in the 23rd minute to bring the game back to 1-1.

Gyeongnam sealed the victory with Lee Jun-jae’s 38th-minute goal and Song Hong-min’s 45th-minute wedge.

At the Asan Sunshin Sports Complex, Chungnam Asan won 2-0 against Cheonan City FC thanks to relay goals from Park Dae-hoon in the 15th minute and Kang Min-kyu in the 6th minute.

Chungnam Asan (42 points) dropped Seongnam FC (41 points), which has played one game less, to 10th place and moved up one spot to ninth, while Cheonan FC (24 points) remained steady at 12th.

At Anyang Sports Complex, FC Anyang defeated Seoul Eland FC 3-0 thanks to Kim Dong-jin’s first goal in the third minute of the second half and Gong Min-hyun’s 28th-minute strike, followed by Kim Ha-joon’s wedge in stoppage time.

Anyang is on 48 points, level on points with Chungbuk Cheongju, but the victory kept alive the last tiny flame of a PO berth as they moved up two places to sixth and cut their goal difference with fifth-placed Gyeongnam to five.

Eland (35 points) remained in 11th place. 파워볼분석
