Thirkiye Messi still hasn’t made his debut, will miss 2023 after all
Arda Güler is expected to make his debut in 2024.
“Real Madrid and Fenerbahçe starlet Arda Güler is not expected to play until 2023 as his difficult start to life in Spain continues,” British outlet Goal.com reported on Saturday (ET).
Güller, who has been called the next Messi, joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe. The left-footed playmaker is reminiscent of Messi in his dribbling and breakaway play. He is responsible for building up his team with a variety of passes, including direct ball carriers and side-switching passes.
He made his debut for Fenerbahçe in the 2021/22 season and played a full season alongside Kim Min-jae. At such a young age, he was given a lot of opportunities and showed his true colors. In March 2022, he scored his debut goal and became the youngest scorer in the Turkish league.
In the 2022/23 season, he was given the number 10 shirt and was a regular starter for the team. Many teams had high hopes for the youngster, as he is a fairly young prospect. Barcelona, Ajax, Napoli, AC Milan, and Real Madrid were all in the running, but it was Real who won out.
He joined the club for €30 million in the summer transfer window and was given the number 24 shirt, choosing to stay at the club rather than go out on loan. After suffering a meniscus injury in pre-season, he declared that he would not undergo surgery but would try to heal it.
However, on August 10 (KST), football publication The Athletic reported, “Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler will soon undergo surgery on his right knee. After several meetings in which all the data and possibilities were analyzed, the decision was made in the last few hours.”
When the surgery was over and Güller was finally recovered from his preseason meniscus injury and ready to make his debut, the club announced that he was suffering from a left anterior rectus muscle injury.
With the injury finally behind him, Güller was ready to return. He had recovered from a nagging muscle injury that had sidelined him for the past few weeks. “Greetings to everyone. I’m working hard and I want to build up my stamina and get stronger. I’m going to show you the real deal in November,” he assured.
However, after spending several months on the treatment table, Güller’s injury flared up. Güller is unlikely to play against Villarreal and Alaves for the rest of the year. The Real coaching staff will wait until the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey to give him a chance to shine.
Real Madrid is also working closely with Güller to make sure he doesn’t get depressed while recovering from his injury. Güller is partly to blame for the speed of his recovery. Real later realized that he didn’t fully understand his body, returning to training too quickly and suffering a relapse.
As one of the biggest talents in Turkiye, Real are doing everything they can to ensure that Güler’s career is not cut short by injury.
