Badminton Ahn Se-young overcame the injury to advance to the semifinals of the BWF King’s Game

Badminton Ahn Se-young (21, Samsung Life Insurance) overcame the injury and dramatically advanced to the semifinals of the world badminton ‘King and King’.

An Se-young defeated Tai Chi-ying of Taiwan 2-0 (21-17 21-14) in the third Group A match of the Women’s Singles Group of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Final 2023 in Hangzhou, China, on the 15th.

Ahn Se-young, who was completely defeated by his national team teammate Kim Ga-eun (Samsung Life Insurance) in the first game, revived without losing a set in the second and third games.

Kim Ga-eun, who gave up the first set, won a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the second set 19-20 and followed well 19-17 in the third set 10-17, but unfortunately lost.

The BWF World Tour Final is a competition that organizes one season of badminton international competitions, with only the top eight (teams) in each sub-event to determine the strongest.

Eight athletes in each event will be divided into two groups of four to play in the group league. Only two from each group will make it to the semifinals.

Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life Insurance), who was selected as Ahn Se-young and “Player of the Year,” showed off his potential by reaching the semifinals in both men’s doubles and mixed doubles with Kang Min-hyuk (Samsung Life Insurance), and Chae Yoo-jung (Incheon International Airport).

Lee So-hee (Incheon International Airport), Baek Ha-na (MG Saemaul Geumgo), and Kim So-young (Incheon International Airport) and Gong Hee-yong (Jeonbuk Bank), who belong to the same group as the women’s doubles, had mixed feelings of joy and sorrow.

Lee So-hee and Baek Ha-na beat Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong 2-0 (21-1122-20) in the first round to reach the semifinals with three consecutive wins, but Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong were eliminated with one win and two losses.
