The Victoria Gambling and Casino Management Board fined the owner of the Lai Hotel $80,000 after two integrity violations.

In the first case, high-ranking officials at a rye hotel falsified records to cover up a $2,039 mispayment to a sponsor. Places have to pay their prize money of more than $2,000 by check or EFT. Attempts to cover up these violations amount to serious integrity and misconduct.

In the second case, the venue issued a check to an unqualified person at the request of a sponsor who could not create an ID card to collect the jackpot. The venue should only process payments to those who play electronic game machines and ensure proper identification is carried out.

In addition to the fines, the commission called for a mandate from the owner to sell the rye hotel and exit the gambling industry.
