WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SHINHAN BANK OVERCOME’S UPSET TO QUALIFY FOR FINAL FOUR

Women’s professional basketball’s Incheon Shinhan Bank is poised to overcome a tiebreaker and clinch a spot in the top four playoffs .Shinhan Bank defeated fourth-ranked Bucheon Hana OneQ 59-57 in a close game in the regular season of the Woori Bank Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League on Thursday at Incheon Dowon Gymnasium .Kim Sonia led the offense with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Guseul, Lee Da-yeon (over nine points), and other starters all scored in double figures. Fifth-ranked Shinhan Bank (5-15), which picked up a win after losing three straight head-to-head games this season, narrowed its lead over Hana OneQ (7-13) to two games .After languishing at the bottom of the standings for the past two months, Shinhan Bank has been on a roll, putting a playoff ticket for the fourth spot within reach. Hana OneQ has lost three straight games. Hana OneQ, which returned from injury with Kim Jong-na (12 points) and Shin Ji-hyun (4 points), took a 30-25 lead with just over a minute left in the second quarter thanks to a three-pointer from Kim Jong-na and under-the-basket offense from Kim Ae-na and Yang In-young.

Hana OneQ, which finished the half up 32-27, extended its lead to 10 points at one point in the third quarter with back-to-back baskets by Kim Jong-un and a three-pointer by Kim Sion. Shinhan Bank did not let Hana OneQ get away as Kim Tae-yeon scored inside and out and Kang Gye-ri and Lee Da-yeon countered with three-pointers. With 59 seconds left in the third quarter, Lee Da-yeon took a pass under the basket from Kim Tae-yeon and made a reverse layup to make it 48-47 heading into the final quarter .With neither team gaining a clear advantage, the game shifted to Shinhan Bank with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Shinhan Bank’s Kim Sonia scored on a steal followed by a fastbreak layup to make it 57-49 with 2:52 left in the game. Hana OneQ responded with a three-pointer by Kim Anna, a layup by Ko Seo-yeon, and a three-pointer by Kim Sion with 23 seconds left in the game to pull within 57-59.Entering the final possession with a two-point lead, Shinhan Bank turned the ball over and overcame Hana OneQ’s defense 슬롯게이밍 to secure the win.
