Choi Seung-yong is close to returning to the first team

Choi Seung-yong, a left-handed pitcher for the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization, is close to returning to the first team. He could be seen with the first team as early as this weekend and as late as next week.

Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop gave an update on Choi’s status at Jamsil Stadium on the 21st. “He pitched live yesterday and today. He’s getting a little better, so we’re thinking of having him pitch for the second team next Wednesday and if there are no problems, we’ll have him join the team next weekend.”

Choi Seung-yong pitched live on the 21st. He threw two 15-pitch sessions, totaling 30 pitches. His fastball was between 138 and 141 mph, his slider between 126 and 128 mph, his curve between 113 and 115 mph, and his forkball between 122 and 125 mph. Choi hasn’t had much of a chance to pitch for the second team recently, as Futures League games have been rained out due to a rainy weather front.

Choi is scheduled to pitch one inning against SSG’s second team in the Futures League on April 24.

Lee said, “Right now, it’s just a matter of feeling the game, and I’ve prepared enough. He said that he doesn’t have any pain in his elbow, so I’m a little concerned about his game feeling, but I’m not sure whether he should throw more in the second team and get a full feeling by next week, or whether he should come up from the first team and throw once when he’s comfortable regardless of winning or losing, and after he pitches for the Futures next week, I’ll think about it again and decide when to join him.”

Choi Seung-yong was considered a candidate for the fourth spot after his breakout performance in the second half of last year, but he has yet to pitch a single game between the first and second teams this season. This is due to an elbow injury.

In 34 appearances last year, Choi went 3-6 with one save and a 3.97 ERA. That may seem like a mediocre performance, 파워볼실시간 but the second half of the year was different. In 15 games (47.1 innings) in the second half of last year, he went 1-0 with one save and a 1.90 ERA. He started eight games out of the bullpen and helped the team fight for the title at the end of the season.

After the season, he was honored to wear the Korean flag for the first time at the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) in Tokyo, Japan.

Manager Lee Seung-yup planned to use Choi as the fourth starter this season.

However, he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left elbow before spring camp. He spent the entire first half of the season rehabbing, and now he’s back to full fitness and ready for action.

Doosan has slumped to 3-7 in its last 10 games. They have slipped out of the race for second place and have slipped to fourth, trailing fifth-place NC by one game. Sixth-place SSG is also 1.5 games back.

Doosan has been struggling with an overloaded bullpen, with Choi Ji-kang out with a shoulder injury. Choi Seung-yong, who has returned from injury, is expected to be used in the bullpen as he is not expected to pitch long innings from the start. It would be a big boost if Choi returns to the form he showed in the second half of last year.

Meanwhile, Doosan changed its first-team coaching staff on the 22nd, saying it was to “refresh the atmosphere.” The pitching coach, battery coach, and operations coach were moved.

Kwon Myung-cheol, who was the pitching coach of the Futures, will be the pitching coach of the first team, and Park Jung-bae, who was the main pitching coach of the first team, will be the bullpen coach of the first team. Kim Ji-yong was the pitching coach of the Futures, and his position was changed to pitching coach. Battery coach Kim Jin-soo and first base coach Kim Dong-han were promoted to the first team from the Futures, while battery coach Seriza Yuji and offense/base coach Jung Jin-ho were moved to the Futures.
